For today...August 31, 2011. It's hard to believe this is the last day of August!
Outside my window...it is a beautiful day! Blue skies and about 80°.
I am thinking...about how fast summer has went by! Our new school year starts Tuesday. I will not miss the heat, but I will miss summer vacation!
I am hearing...Katie and Lee talking.
I am hoping and praying...that we will have no more hurricanes hit us this year.
I am thankful...that we were kept safe during hurricane Irene, and that we have our electricity and phone again. It's easy to take the basics for granted!
I am reading...mostly just the Bible right now.
From the kitchen...creamy chicken and rice for supper. I think I'll cook some sugar snap peas to go with it.
I am looking forward to...church tomorrow. We had to cancel Sunday's service because of the storm. It always feels weird to miss a church service.
Around the house...mostly catching up on laundry! The next few days are supposed to be nice and dry, so I think I can get some clothes washed and hung.
A Scripture thought...I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. ~Psalm 18:1-2
A couple of pictures to share...Irene's aftermath in our neighborhood.
This is a house further down our street.
A tree fell and scraped the front of it.
I hope they don't have too much damage.
A tree down at our church, blocking one of the entrances.
The church is only about a mile from our house.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope the rest of your week is great. :)
Take care,
~Melanie
