A Blog Award and a Funny Little Story

What a sweet surprise I got from Felicia at Raggedy Creations!

~The Liebster Blog Award~

Liebster is a German word which means "dearest" or "beloved", but can also mean "favourite". The aim of the Liebster Award is to draw more attention to some really lovely blogs with 200 or fewer followers.

Thank you for thinking of me, Felicia. :)

~♥~

If you happen to be a recipient of this award, please do the following:

Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

Share your 5 picks for the award and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

Post the award on your blog.

Hopefully the 5 lovely people you chose will give the Liebster award to 5 blogs they like as well.

Now this is the hard part, choosing only five people! I think all of my blog friends are awesome! Please check out my blog roll and visit them. Of course my most special blog friend is my daughter, Katie. She asked me to pass the award along to someone else, but I'm sure she'd enjoy a visit from you!
I know that some of my sweet friends' blogs are award and tag free, and that's OK. If any of the five below do not wish to participate, that's OK too! :)

Here are the 5 sweet ladies I have given the Liebster Blog Award to-

Renee' from Glow Academy . Renee' is one of my very first blog friends and has given me awards too, most recently the Kreativ Blogger award. Thank you, Renee'. :)

Vicki from Our Happy Haven

Sharon from A Few of My Favorite Things

Laura from All Good Gifts

Ginny from Let Your Light Shine

Please stop by and visit all these lovely ladies.

Now, for the funny little story. As most of you know, I am the secretary for our church's Christian school, so I see and hear all sorts of things every day! Well, yesterday I had to watch the second grade class for a little while and overheard the cutest little conversation. This is the dialogue between two second grade girls.

Kyleigh: Our dog had ten puppies and now they're making a lot of messes!
Alyssa: Well, just put them in the basement.
Kyleigh: We don't have a basement, just a garage.
Alyssa: Well, put them in the garage then!
Kyleigh: We can't put them in the garage! Spiders might crawl up their noses!!

Isn't that just too cute?! I laugh every time of think of it. :)

I hope you have a wonderful evening, and thank you all for stopping by.

Take care,
~Melanie

A Little Rambling and Some Giveaway Wins!

Hi, everyone. I hope you're all having a great week so far. We only got a little dusting of snow over the weekend here, but my hometown got about 9 inches! I've been enjoying the pictures my friends have posted on Facebook. Oh, how I miss the mountains!

Anyway...

We were out of school yesterday for Presidents' Day. It's nice to have a day off here and there. We made a big breakfast and just enjoyed being home and not having to go anywhere! Now for those of you who already bake your bacon, please do not laugh at me, but this is a new discovery for me! My goodness, I very much dislike standing over a frying pan turning bacon and getting popped with grease! The microwave isn't much better. For those of you who may not know about bakin' your bacon, this is all you have to do - line a couple of cookie sheets (be sure they have sides) with aluminum foil, then lay out the bacon, making sure it doesn't overlap. Put it in a cold oven, turn the oven on about 400°. After about 12-15 minutes, come back to check on it. It should be about done by then. Be very careful taking it out of the oven because there will be a lot of grease! You may have to adjust your temperature and timing depending on your oven. Now, isn't that easy? :)

I have been blessed to win a few more giveaways recently, and thought I'd show you what I won.

First, I won this beautiful stitchery from Dani at Sweet Home Stitchery. Those little sheep are just too cute. That's a lot of stitches! She did a great job on it, and she has her own etsy shop, so stop by and visit! :)

Such a sweet little tag.

She also sent me this bookmark and cross pin. I put the pin on the front of my Bible case so I know which side is the front.
Thank you, Dani. I will enjoy my gifts. :)

My second win was this sweet bread board from Willa at The Old Cupboard Door. I really like it. She did a beautiful job painting it, and she even added a star cookie cutter and a jingle bell. She also has her own shop. I'm sure she'd love to have you stop by. Thank you so much, Willa!

My third win came from Cyn at Cynzplace. This is a beautiful embroidered heart...such pretty stitching! I really like the cheesecloth ruffle and buttons too.

She also included this sweet handmade bookmark! I love to read, and it seems I'm always looking for a bookmark. Thank you, Cyn! She also has her own etsy shop, so please stop by and visit her too.

My last win was from Nancy at the Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe. I won some rosewood buttons! Please stop by her shop and see all the things she has for sale. She has a lot of giveaways, and I'm sure she'd love for you to enter. Thank you, Nancy!

I'm enjoying all my beautiful items. Many thanks to all of you talented ladies!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Take care,
~Melanie

A birthday, a blogoversary, and a giveaway!

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all having a great week. It's been a busy one here. I have some catching up to do here at home and at work after being sick, but it will get done...all in due time!

I've started working on our taxes too...not fun, but necessary. At least we're not going to owe anything this year, so that is good news! :)

Katie's birthday was yesterday, now she's 14...hard to believe! Time seems to fly by so fast. She went snow tubing yesterday with her class and had a wonderful time! We're going to have a little party for her on Sunday afternoon, so she's looking forward to that. We usually do something before her birthday, but with all of us being sick, we just weren't able to get it all together in time.

Here she is yesterday at Chick-fil-A. Her class stopped there to eat after they finished snow tubing. They all had fun with the cow. :)

Yesterday was also my two-year blogoversary. I have made so many sweet friends since I started my blog. I enjoy visiting you and seeing what you're doing. Thank you for being my friend.

Before I go, I want to let you know about a giveaway my friend is having. Laura, from All Good Gifts, is giving away three thread catchers that she made...very neat little gadgets! Her giveaway ends Feb. 11th, so hurry on over and enter. She is a very sweet friend, and I'm sure she'd love to have you stop by.

Enjoy the rest of your week! Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
~Melanie

Just a Quick Little Post

Hi to all my sweet friends. I hope you've had a good week.

Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes. I am feeling much better. I didn't make it to church Sunday...I really missed not being there. I stayed home from work on Monday too, and got plenty of rest. Lee and Katie pitched in and cooked and cleaned. I'm very blessed to have such a wonderful family.♥

Last week, my sweet friend, Teri, had recommended the book, Enough, by Adam Hamilton. I ordered a gently used one from Amazon, and it came in the mail Monday. I've been enjoying it, and have already read most of it. I definitely recommend it.

Sandi received her hearts from my giveaway, and I was happy to hear they'd made the trip safely from Virginia to Wisconsin. I'm glad she likes them. :)

I haven't shown you a picture of Oreo for a while. He is such a sweetie. Here he is taking a nap with me when I was sick. He's lying on my arm looking all cute and giving me purr therapy.

My husband told me a funny little joke the other day and I thought you'd like it too.

There once was a baby turtle who decided it was time to make his own way in the world. He very slowly climbed all the way to the top of a tall tree and jumped! He held out his legs and flapped with all his might, but fell to the ground with a splat! Dazed and confused, he got back up and slowly made his way up the tree again. Just like the first time, he jumped and flapped his legs as fast as he could, but he still fell straight to the ground! All this time, there were two birds in a nearby tree watching what the turtle was doing. As the turtle started to climb the tree for the third time, the birds looked at each other and said, "I think it's time to tell him he was adopted".

Wasn't that cute!

Have a great weekend!
Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

Take care,
~Melanie
