Our Vacation

We had a great time visiting with my parents last week. Most of the time was spent relaxing, talking, and just enjoying each other's company. We don't get to see them very often, so we try to make the most of our visits!

This is a picture of the Greenbrier River in West Virginia. We had a family reunion there on Saturday. In the left part of the picture is the stage for an amphitheater. I think it's a beautiful place for one.
There's a picnic shelter there too with lots of trees and a playground, so it's really a nice place. It was good to see our relatives and find out how they're all doing. Most of them we only see this one day a year.
Katie had a lot of fun swimming in the river with her cousins. The water is so nice and clear and you can see all the pretty river rocks.

Mom and Dad have a fire pit and a shelter out in the woods, so of course we had to go out and roast marshmallows and make some s'mores! It was so relaxing to watch the fire and listen to the leaves rustling in the wind.

I recently told you about how talented my mom is, so last week I took some pictures of just a few of the beautiful quilts she has made. She does a wonderful job, don't you think!
I'll try to get some pictures of her other quilts and post them sometime.

Jewel Box Quilt

Maple Leaf Quilt (I love Fall, so I'm really partial to this one.)

Garden Trellis Quilt

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and are having a wonderful week. :)

  7. That is interesting that you should post about the Greenbrier River. We are considering it for our overnight camping and canoe trip later this fall. Looks like a really great place - we have heard many good comments about it and the camping available along the banks.

  13. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Family reunions are so fun! Those quilts are beautiful. My mom's arthritis has gotten so bad that she doesn't quilt anymore, but I treasure the ones I have that she's made :-)

  15. The quilts are absolutely beautiful! But you had me at the marshmallows over the open fire...I could "hear" the fire crackling and taste those marshmallows. Fall, anyone?

BTW, followed the crumbs to your blog while blog-hopping.

  17. beautiful quilts your mom makes; she is indeed talented!! I know there's a lot of hard work and time that goes into each and everyone of them (and of course love); my mom used to quilt and I remember her working on them, cutting blocks, sewing, etc. All were very nice; hard to pick a favorite among them!

glad you had a nice vacation and was able to spend some great quality time with your family! so very important to take the time to do so! and in such a pretty area too!
