The Best Laid Plans...

It's been one of those weeks.

There were so many things I had planned to do before the school year started.

My throat started hurting Friday night and it was all downhill from there. I have either been in the bed or the recliner since then. Thankfully, I had already gotten some things accomplished before I got sick. I'm trying to do a little bit today and ease myself back into the land of the living. Lee and Katie have been a wonderful help! They've cooked, washed dishes and clothes, and taken great care of me. :)

Please keep the people on the east coast in your prayers. This hurricane has been a real nail biter! It looks like it's going to miss us here in eastern Virginia, but it's still going to be a rough couple of days for a lot of people.

On a happier note, I would like to wish my dad a very happy birthday today! He's such a wonderful dad. He retired in April after making paper for MeadWestvaco since 1963 (minus the time he was in Vietnam). Paper production went down after he retired, so he was asked to come back to work a few days a week as a consultant. We're all pretty proud of him.

I'm hoping to come around and visit. I've missed seeing what you're up to!

Hope you're all doing well. :)

Melanie

  5. There are many people in our area sick with the same type of symptoms. One teacher should have been home instead of at school for inservice this week!! I hope you feel better soon.

Yes- my friend and I were talking today about the people and the hurricane. Praying for them for their safety.

  8. Hi Melanie,

First off happy Birthday to your dad! and I am so glad to hear you're feeling better today. What a great family you have to pitch in when you're sick.
I will be praying for everyone in the path of Earl, that is my x husband's name. I was thinking how mean he was and hopefully the storm will not be as rotten.
    God Bless & Big hugs

  10. Well, like all moms, when you get sick.....REST!!! Yippee!!! Hooray!!! Ok, it's not like we get to sit in the recliner or lay around in the bed much, right??? So after the intense horrible whatever lets up somewhat, enjoy the recliner!!! :)
    Blessings,
    Linda

  13. Hey Melanie!

I think it's the weather! I thought that was what was wrong with my son last Friday. Since he had a fever his doctor's office wanted me to bring him in. They ran a test and he had strep throat! He's better now but I'm glad I took him in to get his medicine before it got worse.

Hope you are feeling better! Happy Birthday to your Dad! Not many men stay at one job their entire careers. That is a great credit to him.

    Hugs,
    Angela

  15. I hope your feeling better soon. We've had a sore throat, upper respiratory virus going around here, too. I thought I had dodged it, but my throat started hurting this morning. Bummer.
