For today...Monday, January 3, 2011.
Outside my window... It's cold and 33°. All of our snow has finally melted.
I am thinking... about how nice it was to see our families at Christmas. We probably won't see them again until Easter.
I am thankful...that I am home from work. It was a busy day. We have two new students, so I've been busy with their records and ordering their books.
From the kitchen...a beef and biscuit casserole and green beans. I'll try to post the recipe soon. It's one of those easy recipes that I've made for years, but we all still really like. Don't you just love those kinds of recipes? :)
I am going...nowhere the rest of the day.
I am hoping...that the birds will find their new bird feeder soon! It's been hanging for several days now. I threw their other one away last summer.
I am hearing...the furnace running. I'm so thankful for a warm home.
I am reading...Promiseland and The Other Side of Jordan by Dawn Miller. I haven't gotten too far into it yet. I've been too busy to read much lately.
Around the house...the Christmas decorations are all put away. Things always seem so bare after Christmas.
One of my favorite things...flannel sheets on cold winter nights!
A few plans for the rest of the week...I'll be at work every day until three o'clock, grocery shopping tomorrow, church on Thursday, church on Sunday
Here is a picture thought I am sharing...a beautiful picture my husband painted. It's one of my favorite pictures.
The daybook is hosted each week by The Simple Woman.
Hey! I was thinking about doing this, too.
ReplyDeleteI love all your answers... and the painting your husband did.
So, is this scheduled to happen for Monday's now? It used to be on Tuesday. I'll have to check out the link.
Have a great evening.
Great answers Melanie and Happy New Year! Love the picture your hubby painted. With the snow falling on your blog, it looks like it's falling in that picture, too. Very cool!

Your husband has talent! This picture looks like art from P. Buckley Moss, a very famous artist who was born here. I haven't set foot outside all day. Even though we need to go to the grocery store, it is so cold!!
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie. I am visiting today from Simple Woman's Daybook. I love flannel sheets too! Here in NY some of the snow has melted. Now it is a mess :)
ReplyDeleteOur snow has melted too! It's still cold out though. My 6 yr old son wants it to snow again! lol He hopes that school will be closed due to snow! lol It shouldn't take long for the birds to find your new feeder. It doesn't take mine long before they know that I've filled mine up again. I can hear them talking when I am filling it up! I love the painting your husband painted! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Day!

I have a friend named Dawn Miller. She's not a writer though, at least not that I know of :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful painting too!
Blessings,
Marcia
Hi Melanie, You have a very talented husband... I admire anyone who can draw or paint... Love that painting!!!
ReplyDeleteI am putting away my Christmas decorations this week... I love Christmas and hate to see it end... But --life goes on!!
Our snow has all melted also --but it is still pretty cold here. They mentioned the "S" word in the upcoming forecast though --so welcome to January on the Cumberland Plateau.
Hugs,
Betsy
I loved reading through your daybook and getting to know you a bit better through it. Love the painting. My daughter, too, is a Melanie. She writes with me on our blog. Melanie must be a good name. :-) I was a pastor's wife for many years. God has my husband at a Christian University teaching and working in administration. Sometimes I miss have a people to shepherd, but am at peace with God's leadings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture your husband painted! He is very talented :) I would love the recipe for the beef and biscuit casserole. It sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteHI Melanie Happy New Year! your husband is very talented! love that picture he painted. You are about the same temp as us. We are colder here on the northern end of CA then the south. Brrrrrrrr it froze and I forgot to cover my fruit trees.
ReplyDeleteI love all your answers to the simple woman daybook. That's really a neat idea. I hardly have time to blog with my crafts and jewelry business and everything else I am doing. I can't wish for a slow life because I love this busy one. Enjoy a wonderful blessed new year for your family and pets and church. Thanks for the prayers we need them! big hugs
