Washing & Waiting

We have been enjoying our first week of summer vacation...
just a little bit of laziness going on around here!

So, what did Katie and I do while we waited for the clothes to dry?
We went for a walk, and took some pictures to share with you.

Ivy from under our cherry tree.

One of our blueberry bushes.

Wild raspberries in the woods out back

Mimosa tree across the road

This is a close-up of it.
Isn't that pretty?

Wild daisies

We took these pictures earlier this week.
It is 95° here today, so we are inside!
I don't believe the air conditioner
has stopped all day.

Hope you're all having a great week,
and staying cool.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
~Melanie

  2. I just cut a Mimosa tree that was in front of my window. I didn't know what it was until my husband told me. He couldn't believe I cut it! Oops :)
It is really hot here too. Our AC has been going all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, thankfully. Your blueberries look great.

  5. Hi Melanie, I am visiting via Ginny's blog. Katie looks like she is enjoying summer vacation. I had a swing my dad made when I was young and I spent so many happy hours swinging! I love the photos of all the pretty flowers and trees around your home. Those mimosa blooms remind me of powder puffs. Wishing you a nice weekend.

  6. I never saw a mimosa tree, Melanie. They are neat looking, very pretty! I think its neat you hang clothes out like that. I try to for our wearing clothes, but not for towels, sheets, panties, socks, etc.

Fun to take a walk like that too before it got hot!! You know, in Southern California, especially close to the ocean like we are, in May and June, especially June, we have cloudy cool weather; they call it June Gloom. We might not see much of the sun for days. Its due to the marine layer this time of year. So while the rest of the country swelters, I actually wore a sweatshirt today, LOL :)

    enjoy the weekend!

  7. Dear Melanie,

Oh, my, Katie is such a sweetie! You must have so much fun with her...doing "girlie" things! I look forward, Lord willing, to someday have "daughters" and then granddaughters to do those sort of things with!

Don't you just love hanging clothes on the line! Ours often smells a bit like the sea when I take it down...it is my favorite smell. I'm always telling my boys...I just know this is what Heaven smells like!

Hope you all are enjoying a nice sunny day!
    With love,
    Laura

  9. Hi, Laura~

Thank you for your sweet comment.

Yes, Katie is a sweetie! She's growing up so fast, and I just want to make the most of our time together. :) I'm sure when the time comes, you'll have lots of fun with your 'daughters' and granddaughters.

I do love the smell of clothes off the line. A bottled fabric softener can't even come close!

Hope you and your family have a wonderfully blessed weekend.

    Take care.♥

So nice to hear from you. :) Thank you for your sweet comment.

I agree, it is a pleasure to see the laundry on the line, and it's a pleasure to smell too!
I even enjoy hanging it if it isn't too hot outside. :)

Yes, Katie is our sweetie girl. We're very proud of her and she's very special to us.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.♥

  11. Beautiful images around your house, especially the ones of sweet Katie.
Weird weather. Your a/c is running non-stop and we haven't turned ours on yet. It's been unseasonably cool here, but I can't complain. Once it turns hot, it will stay that way.
    Have a nice week!
    Blessings,
    Marcia
