Back From My Break!

Hi, everyone! I've missed you all, and I hope you're having a great weekend. Things have been quite busy here. I've enjoyed my break. I'm not sure what my future blogging may be like, so I'll just take it a day at a time. :)

We're in our last nine weeks of the year - time just seems to fly by! I've been busy with end of quarter reports and the students' SAT's. Katie also had a pretty bad case of poison ivy, but it's finally clearing up. She was on Prednisone for a week, and the doctor recommended Ivarest. It helped tremendously!

We've been out of school this week for our Easter break. We spent the week with our families and had a very nice time. I thought you might like to see some of Katie's random pictures she took this week. I think she takes great pictures!

Lilacs at my parents' house

Katie didn't take this picture. This is what I found on my kitchen counter a couple weeks ago while I was home by myself (which is hardly ever)! It's a blue-tailed skink. I grabbed it up in a bath towel and set it free outside, then I went in and got my camera and took some pictures. I sure hope it doesn't try that again!

Before I go, I wanted to give you an update on Tanya (my cousin's wife). Unfortunately, it is not good news. She is in the hospital again. We found out she has stage 4 cancer, and is on very strong chemo. She also has more blood clots and her kidneys are failing, so she is on dialysis. She had to have some of her toes and part of her foot amputated because of the blood clots. On Wednesday, we had planned our visit around her time for dialysis, but when we got there, they told us her dialysis was late that day, so we didn't get to see her. She was disappointed, and so were we. We haven't seen her since August. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. She is in desperate need of them.

Don't take your loved ones for granted. Give them a hug and tell them you love them. We are not promised tomorrow.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,
~Melanie

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin, Melanie, you are so right, we can't ever take our loved ones for granted; we do need to treasure them and let them know we treasure them; life on this side of eternity is so short.

I love Katie's pictures; she did great with them! Very talented!

Glad you enjoyed your break and glad you back to blogging, whatever the schedule of it is that works best for you!

  3. So good to see you back!!! I am so sorry about Tanya!!! Katie takes great pictures, she really had an eye for beauty. Her poison ivy must be really bad for the doctor to hive her Prednisone. The fire is very near us, too, as you and I live so close together.

  5. Hello Melanie~
Good to see you here this morning. Lovely pictures you shared up until the "skink" though ;-( I must say you were very calm about finding on your COUNTER?!?!
Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers across the country as there are far to many conditions effecting lives.
I'm sorry to hear of your cousin's condition. Will continue to include her in my prayers; poison ivy-just typing it out makes me itch! I had a horrible bout with it when I was 10 and I haven't forgotten it. Glad there are meds to help these days.

Wishing you a sunny, peaceful Sunday.

  8. Hi Melanie. Your daughter does take great pictures. There were some wildfires out east here too. I hope they will stop soon. You are very brave for finding that thing outside and setting it free. I think I may have just stood there and screamed ;)
Praying for your cousin. I just found out my cousin whom I haven't seen in years has stage 4 cancer in her brain and lung. Praying for salvation for her.

  16. Welcome back, Melanie! Your daughter took excellent pictures! Sad about the fires. I hope they get them all extinguished soon.
I do not like those skinks! You were brave to capture it!! They look too much like a snake and make my heart race every time they run near my feet when I'm outdoors. Our dog likes to stalk and kill them along with any other kind of lizard. EW!
I will continue to keep Tanya in my prayers.

Your daughter has a talent, her pictures are beautiful.
I said a prayer for your cousin. How true not to take your loved ones for granted. Our family just went a season of our youngest daughter being very sick. Everyday is a gift.
