My hometown got hit pretty hard in Friday night's storm, and they're still without power. That's a dangerous situation in this awful heat!
Thankfully, we are OK where we are. The storm had weakened some by the time it got here. I had never heard of a derecho until this weekend!
Katie went to Kings Dominion on Friday and was traveling back about the same time the storm was moving through. We kept calling her on the cell phone, and she was telling us that it was windy and there were limbs on the road and that they'd passed some accidents. Needless to say, this mama was praying hard! I was so relieved whey they finally pulled in the driveway a little before midnight, and I immediately thanked God for keeping them all safe.
I'm praying everyone can get their power back on very soon!
Lee and I celebrated our 21st anniversary on Friday. It will definitely be one to remember!
Hope you all have a great week! Try to keep cool!
Take care,
~Melanie
Glad you are all safe. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThat was one wicked storm! I was out in it when it hit where I live. I didn't even know it was coming. We have electric but we don't have our free gas. That is driving me nuts because there is no reason for our free gas to be off right now. I know it could be worse but that is something that I rely on and really never have had any problems with it. I had to get my mom because she doesn't have electric. I'm so glad that everything is good at your house! Glad the kids got back from their trip safe too!
Hugs,
Angela
happy belated anniversary Melanie and Lee!! Wishing you many more together!
ReplyDeleteWow, those were mighty storms that went through your part of the country! Glad Katie/friends arrived home safe and sound!
my sister lives in the DC area, she's currently in Massachusetts visiting family, but their area got hit hard in the DC area; her house is okay but they have no power or water.
Hoping all get restored soon!

Oh my goodness you were so blessed not to get any damage but I am so sorry for the others. So many were hurt. The fires in the west. And the heat in the south. So much going on.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy anniversary to you! May you have many many more.
Love, sandie

We are getting very hot weather here too. Not as hot as the coast though. But anything over 70 is not good for me.

I have family in Ohio that suffered from this storm with power outages in that awful heat. Glad to hear you are all okay. We are having a huge fire and 2000 firemen are fighting it here in Placer County CA it is just dreadful and it smells of smoke and the sky is grey. Very depressing and toxic. Hope you have a wonderful blessed Sunday and so good to hear from you! Hugs
