A White Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with my parents, and this is what we woke up to the day before Thanksgiving...so beautiful. It's no wonder I love snow and winter so much. These are the views I had when I was growing up! The pine trees go all the way around the yard.

We enjoyed watching the birds in the feeder. The squirrels climbed in there too. :-)

We had a very nice visit with family and friends. The week went by too quickly!

Just a little idea to pass along...

We have the Gideons come to our school every year. Sadly, they've told us that now they're only allowed in about 5% of the public schools in America. Our students receive these little New Testaments every year. They've been encouraged to give any extras to friends who may not have the opportunity to receive one. Also, Katie's class made up some care packages to give out to the homeless, making sure to include a New Testament along with water, snacks, a toothbrush, etc.

If you don't have any extra Bibles lying around, I think tracts would work well too. We should always be looking for opportunities to share the Gospel!

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. ~Isaiah 55:11

Take care,
~Melanie

  1. Oh, these lovely pictures! They draw me in and make me feel I am standing right there with you! And to think, we were in the same region, enjoying the same snowfall!! Zach had a dream and wish that we would get snowed in at Mom and Dad Smith's on Thanksgiving! And, guess what?? We did! He rode with me to the ER the night before, when the wound became infected, and we couldn't even get back up their driveway when we got back home! Kevin had to stop work and come out and bail us out and get us back up the driveway, bless his heart!!! But, we had such a wonderful time being snowed in. Our electricity went out, but God graciously brought it back on in time for Kevin to start working that night before Thanksgiving. Those are happy memories now. :) Love you, sweet friend. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you, your husband, and sweet daughter!!

  2. Great idea to give these out to the homeless. How will they be chosen and found?

  3. Melanie, thanks for this post. I linked to it from my Christmas challenge section of my web page. I put the link to it on both the "remember the poor" challenge from a couple years ago and from the "seeing with compassion" challenge I posted this year. :-) May God bless your efforts to reach out to the hurting at this time of year.
