Enduring the temperatures we've had lately makes me even more thankful to have a warm home. Last month our electric bill was about double what it usually is, but at least we are warm and have a heater that works! My husband taped some bubble wrap over the sliding glass doors in his office. It has really helped keep the cold out. I grew up with a wood stove, and I really miss it, especially on these super cold days!
With all the snow we got, we needed a new snow shovel and some ice melt. We checked the big stores like Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and Home Depot. They were all sold out. Finally, just out of curiosity, we stopped by a little hardware store, and wouldn't you know they had snow shovels and salt!
Katie's trip is going well, but we sure miss her at home! They did a street outreach their first night there and 16 people got saved! I'm keeping track of her flights on flightaware.com. What a neat site!
I've been enjoying this tea - Traditional Medicinals Echinacea Plus. Have any of you tried it? It's really good! After I sweeten it with a little raw honey, I'm good to go! I also like their Throat Coat tea.
Just a little of God's beauty to share. I took this picture from my front door not long ago. I thought the sunset was so pretty through the trees.
Hope you all are doing well and staying warm!! Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by. :-)
Take care,
~Melanie
I just posted a "new post" and these were essentially my same thoughts... God is so good. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying this season, and able to stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYou're tea... sounds lovely. I am wishing I would have a quick remedy for a serious ear ache.
I saw (on FB) that Katie is on a mission trip... been thinking of her!! :)
Hi, Bevy~ :-)
DeleteI do love winter. I know many people just survive it. It has been very cold though!
I've been thinking about ordering some other teas to try. There are many more on their website. I hope your earache will go away soon!
Katie is doing well on her trip. She's almost halfway through. I'm looking forward to seeing her.
Hope you have a great week! :-)
Yes, it is quite cold...brrr! but staying home and being warm - top priority these winter days :0) mari
ReplyDeleteYes, Mari, I have been staying home as much as I can! The temperatures have just been SO cold!!
DeleteI hope you are staying warm too!
Dear Teri~
ReplyDeleteThis is the coldest winter I can remember in a long time. Last year we had a few days that were cold, but it's been VERY cold for a couple of weeks now, and the forecast is still calling for more of the same!
We got about 8 inches of snow last Monday, but it's been so cold it hasn't had a chance to melt! Our ground is still covered with snow.
Katie has sent a couple of Facebook messages to me letting me know things are OK with her. I'll be glad to have her back home. It's not easy letting her go.
I hope you have a great week! warm hugs♥
Hi, Melanie, we have been getting those really cold temps too! I just know this months power bill will be through the roof! I am thankful for the heat, though! So glad Katie's trip is going well and people are being saved. I have never tried the tea. The Throat Coat tea sounds like it would be handy to keep around. I have been sipping on cups of tea just so I can warm my hands on the hot mug! You have such a pretty view from your front door. Such a beautiful sunset picture!
ReplyDelete:)Vicki
Hi, Vicki! :-)
DeleteI have been making tea to keep my hands warm too! No kidding!
The picture couldn't capture the full beauty of the sunset. You know how that goes.
I miss Katie and will be thankful to have her back home safe and sound.
I hope you all are doing OK. Enjoy your week. ♥
We love tea, but I have not tried this kind. I have seen the throat coat. I am so glad that Katie is doing well. I love your sweet header!
ReplyDeleteThat tea is really good, Ginny! It's good for the immune system too. :-)
DeleteJust got finished chatting with Katie on Facebook. She's doing well. She said they've been doing lots of skits. That crosses the language barriers. :-)
I thought that sweet little basket of flowers was just so sweet! Hope you have a great week!♥
That tea looks interesting, I'll have to look for it. Glad to hear Katie's trip is going well and people are coming to know Jesus as a result of their being there :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Hi, Betty,
DeleteThe tea is very good! I got it and the Throat Coat from Wal-Mart. The Trad. Med. website lists a lot of other teas too. I'm thinking about ordering some.
We're so happy to hear the good news from Katie. God is still doing good things! :-)
Yes, it is so cold! Oh my goodness! I'm so thankful we haven't had any burst pipes yet. We had some at the church last year. What a mess! It wasn't discovered for a couple of days, so there was water everywhere!!
ReplyDeleteI talked with Katie last night on Facebook. She's doing very well, but I will be glad to have her back home safe and sound. I'm so glad to hear the good news from her. :-)
I love nature and seeing all of God's beautiful creation. You take such awesome pictures of it, and live in such a pretty area there. :-)
I love those little hardware stores. They seem to have everything. It's been very cold here too and I've been drinking more hot tea than usual. I do love the winter and usually don't mind the cold but this year I am saying "I'm cold" a lot ;) My have oil for heat and we are using about double which is a pretty big expense. I would love a wood stove or fireplace. Stay warm :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Theresa,
DeleteWe had to laugh when we found what we needed at the little hardware store. :-) The sales lady was so surprised when we told her all the other stores were sold out!
We've been saying "I'm cold" a lot too! I love winter, but I would like to see the temperatures come up a little bit. :-)
I haven't tried your Echinacea teas. I know its suppose to be good for colds I do have some of the pills. We are having this cold wet winter this year too. Take Care
ReplyDeleteThe tea is really good, Trish! I've been trying to drink at least a few cups a week. I got this tea from Wal-Mart. The Traditional Medicinals website has a lot of other kinds. I'm thinking of ordering some of the other ones.
DeleteI'll be happy to see Spring come. :-)
Hi Melanie ~ Oh, it does sound a bit chilly at your house! I am glad that you are keeping warm! What a wonderful opportunity for Katie! And how encouraging for her to experience all that God is doing!
ReplyDeleteI think I might like to try that tea too!
Hugs,
Sharon
Yes, Sharon, it has been quite cold! Our extended forecast is still cold, but not as cold as it has been, thankfully!! :-)
DeleteI'm so encouraged by Katie's reports about their trip. God is doing some wonderful things through their little group. I'm so thankful to have a child who has a heart to serve the Lord.
The tea is so yummy! I think I may order some of the other flavors. :-)
~warm hugs♥
Seeing your box of tea makes me want to go in there to our "tea cupboard" and see what we have on hand! This weather is perfect for drinking hot tea. I like the peppermint flavored ones, too. Praying often for you and dear Katie and SO grateful for the ones who gave their hearts to Jesus already!!!!! God is so good. Much love to you, sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Cheryl,
DeleteI got this tea and the Throat Coat from Wal-Mart. The Traditional Medicinals website has a lot of others to choose from. I might just place an order! I love to try different flavors of hot tea.
Thank you so much for your prayers for Katie and her team. So thankful to hear of the ones who gave their hearts to Jesus.
Lots of love, my friend.♥
