~Days of Winter~

We had our first snowfall over the weekend, and have been enjoying it. The temperatures have been too cold for the snow to melt...our low last night was 13ยบ.

We were happy that one of the students in our school gave us a bird feeder for Christmas. Our other one has seen better days. The bush on the left is a Rose of Sharon. Every morning, it is full of birds waiting for their turn at breakfast. :-)

My sweet husband gave me this electric fireplace for Christmas. We are enjoying it so much. It is one of the most realistic looking ones I've seen. I grew up with a wood stove, and I would love to have one, but this is the next best thing. ♥

Katie gave me this reindeer mug for Christmas. It is so cute, and blue is my favorite color. :-)

I received this precious book for Christmas. It has only 132 pages in a comfortable font. If you get the chance to read it, please do.  I am sure it would be a blessing to you. The last few chapters were especially good. I could not stop the tears that flowed.

This is the third book of hers that I have read. They are deeply spiritual, yet very humble.

I hope you all will have a blessed week. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Take care,

  1. Dear Melanie ... your home looks warm and cosy, snowy on the outside and comfy on the inside. Hugs ♥ TEri

    1. Oh, thank you for your sweet compliment, Teri.♥ You are very kind. :-) I hope you are doing well, my friend! Much love, ~Melanie

  2. I will have to look for that book; sounds very good! How fun with the bird feeder! I do miss not feeding birds where we live now, but am closer to grandson, so I guess that's the silver lining to not watching birds feeding :)

    Stay warm!

    1. Hi, Betty. :-) So nice to have you stop by.
Yes, the book is very good! The author lived back in the 1800's, so the stories are old, but they are so sweet and humble. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.
I think it's a good trade-off to be closer to your grandson. :-) The birds will be fine, and someone else will enjoy feeding them.
Hope you are having a good week so far!

  3. Oh, how pretty! I just love seeing pictures of your house! I love the primitive decor!! That name sounds so familiar...did she happen to write the book, "Stepping Heavenward"? I just know I have seen that name somewhere. If she did, I loved that book, so would probably love this one, too. Thank you so much for sharing, sweet friend. Sending you love and hugs!

    1. Thank you, my friend! I love primitive decor. It is so pretty.♥
Yes, that is the same author! I think her books are so good. They're very spiritual and really make you think, but she writes in such a simple and humble way...very enjoyable to read. I'm sure you would like this one too.
Hope you're having a good week. :-) Thank you for stopping by. Much love and hugs, ~Melanie♥

  4. Good morning, Melanie~

I love EVERYTHING about this post. I love your bird feeder, what a special gift from your student. We have had cold temperatures here but only a brief snow of about an inch and a half but it was gone the next day with our 70* day. How CrAzY is that?

Ahh...your fireplace. We have been looking at getting an electric one for our home but with a very high electric bill here due to very poor insulation in our house, we have decided against it for now and have gotten a portable propane heater instead. We used to have a wood stove......ONE DAY!! :D

Such a cute mug with so much love in it. I cherish my coffee mugs and all the memories behind each one.

I have never heard of nor have a read any of Elizabeth Prentiss' work. She will definitely be on my reading list now.

Thank you for sharing your life with us. ((((HUGS))))

    1. Hello, Laura! It's so nice to have you stop by! :-) I hope you and your family are all doing well.

Yes, the weather has been crazy...frigid cold one day and springlike the next!

I like all the different mugs too. If one happens to break, it makes me so sad. :-(

Elizabeth Prentiss lived in the 1800's, so her writing style is older, but I really enjoy her books.

I hope you have a great week!!

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. I enjoy hearing from you. :-)
