Twenty

Here we are the day we set out on the road called
"Married Life"...

twenty years ago today.

What a road it has been and still is!

How could we have known about all the
curves, bumps, and obstacles,
there would be along the way?

I'm sure you will agree
marriage is not always easy.

There are days
when the sleep is little,
the words are sharp,
and the tempers are short.

You learn to give each other space.

You learn to say "I'm sorry"...a lot!

You forgive, forget, and move on.

~♥~

There are the good things too, like...

building a life together,

holding your newborn child,

knowing you're loved
even though the hair is graying
and the wrinkles are forming

having someone
to talk with,
laugh with,
pray with,

having someone
who loves you,
and cares about you.

~♥~

I haven't mentioned much about
my husband on my blog before,
but he is a funny guy!

How can I do anything but laugh when he has...

squirted lotion on my pillowcase,
(no, I didn't notice it until I'd lain down!)

packed dog food in my lunch bag,

scared me with fake spiders,

grabbed a handful of something from the 'junk bowl'
(like a ketchup packet, rubber band, button, paper clip)
to put in my Christmas stocking, or

clipped clothespins in my hair while giving me a hug

♥♥♥

Throughout our twenty years of
sickness and health,
ups and downs,
joys and sorrows,

my husband has been my...

pastor
counselor
listener
protector
provider
spider killer
labor coach
fellow parent
encourager
prayer partner
hand holder
nurse
comforter
shoulder rubber
secret keeper
anything fixer
guitar player
picture painter
joke teller

but most of all,

he has been my
friend.

  3. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband, Melanie!! You made such a great looking bride and groom!! Twenty years! That is an amazing accomplishment these days but I'm thinking it is because you guys put Jesus as the foundation on who you would build your life and your house on and we know how solid his rock is!

Wonderful tribute to him and to marriage in general!

I know, you have absolutely no idea what lies ahead on our marriage days. I think it we did, we would run the other way, LOL, that's why God doesn't let us know these things beforehand but he is always there helping us through them!

Enjoy the day and wishing you many more wonderful years together!

A practical joker, for sure, but how else to get through some of the hard times of life? Let us know how you celebrated! 14. Dear Melanie,

Happy Anniversary! Twenty years go quickly...don't they! I'm still having a hard time believing that my parents are married almost 70 years now...and that I have sons who are a quarter century old! Time passes so quickly...we can't waste a moment on things that are unimportant. I hope that you and your beloved had the best day...you make a beautiful couple...and a lovely family!

    Sweet blessings, dear one,
    Laura

  18. I just wanted to say, that you and I must have had the same colors in our weddings! Your husband's tux looks JUST LIKE my husband's looked--same gray and everything, except my husband's bowtie and cumberbund was gray, too--with a white rose...but the groomsmen had pink bowties and cumberbunds and pink roses :) And, your wedding dress is so similar to mine! I will have to email you a picture--lol :)
