For today...July 5, 2011
Outside my window...cloudy and about 70°.
I am thinking...that I'm looking forward to visiting with my parents next month.
I am thankful...that I have had wonderful, Godly parents all my life. ♥
I am hearing...the washing machine. I'm so thankful for the little 'maids' we have. :)
I am remembering...the beautiful fireworks we went to see last night. The weather was warm, but not hot, and there was a wonderful breeze blowing. I really enjoyed it.
I just finished reading...The Masterpiece by Mary Ann Minatra. This is the second book in the Alcott Legacy series. I'm looking forward to reading the third one.
From the kitchen...I'll be cooking some corn on the cob today. A sweet lady from church gave us some tomatoes and cucumbers on Sunday, so I'm going to make a salad too.
One of my favorite things...Olive Garden salad dressing. Oh my, it is good! One of our friends from church took Katie shopping last Monday, then they went to Olive Garden for supper. Our friend bought an Olive Garden gift card and a bottle of their dressing so Katie could give it to us for our anniversary. Wasn't that sweet? I'm looking forward to using the dressing tonight. :)
A few plans for the rest of the week...working at the school to get ready for next year, groceries and library tomorrow, church on Thursday.
Words to think about...When we obey God and yield our lives to Him, emptying ourselves of selfish desires, the Spirit of God is just like a spring bubbling up within us from down deep in our souls. The Spirit source fills us, and we are satisfied. ~Joni Eareckson Tada
A picture I'm sharing this week...I was so happy to win Laura's giveaway! These bags are so nice. It's special to have something handmade from a sweet friend. ♥
Please visit Peggy to read more daybooks.
Hope you're all having a great week. Thank you for stopping by.
Take care,
~Melanie
You know the most important thing on there - to me - is having strong Christian parents from the beginning. My girlfriend I talked about the other day did too - makes all the difference in the world to the way you grow up!
ReplyDeleteOh, I need to get my washing maching going. Thanks for the reminder :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your salad- sounds delish!
Good gifts you have received. Enjoyed reading your post I too can hear the washing machine. Trish
ReplyDeleteI just noticed the clothes hanging outside on the clothesline in your header. Reminded me of the times I used to hang out the washing for Frances in our early ministry. She was teaching school, so that was just a small part of my chores. Always loved the smell of the sunshine in the clothes when they were brought in, sprinkled, rolled, then ironed! You sound like a faithful ministry couple. God bless you for all that you do for His people.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteOlive Garden, my favorite!! I have bought and taken home more than one bottle of that yummy dressing! Have you tried their cold cream soda drinks? I can't remember their name, but there is a vanilla and an orange and a few others, oh my they are good!! I hope you have a wonderful dinner, what a great way to celebrate!

I'm a first time visitor to your journal and love the way you created it. It is warm, open, friendly and interesting, the kind of journal I enjoy keeping track of. I'll be back. Have an awesome day.
ReplyDeleteoh, so you're the one who won the bags...good going! and thanks for signing up for my giveaway..hope you win!
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Mrs. Melanie,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you and your family are having a great summer. Corn on the cob would taste really good right about now. :) Speaking of corn...our corn is actually starting to come out of the ground. It just seems like yesterday when we planted it. My family is so thankful that we can have the garden out front this year. One year it rained so much that we just couldn't.
I really like the quote you shared by Joni Eareckson Tada. There is so much joy to be found in putting our trust in the Lord and yielding our lives to Him.
I'll be praying that you and your family have a wonderful week and that your have a great time visiting with your parents.
God Bless,
Josh
Melanie happy belated anniversary! I love seafood. It's wonderful that you got that dressing, yummy we eat at Olive Garden from time to time, although I am not the biggest fan of Italian food theirs is really good.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you had Godly parents that is so wonderful.
I can't imagine how wonderful that would have been, if I told people my childhood they would be shocked. I thank God that he set me free from the burdensome life of my childhood and showed me the way and eventually I was saved and I was so young! at 15 I brought my mom and brothers to church with me after my dad took off with another woman and they were all saved tool what a miracle that was.
Congrats to you win on the cute bags, I am going to have a give a way very very soon.
How do you create that cursive print in your title I am baffled.
Is this the same header you had a few weeks ago, it is just adorable you did a fantastic job and Katie looks just adorable as well. Morgan will be 13 on the 23 of this month I can't believe it!
My new grandson will be here soon, now that I can believe because this time I am old enough to be a grandma when Morgan was born I would take her places everyone thought she was my child. I loved that, her mom did not. He he.
Have a great day sweets. May God bless you day! Hugs
I found your blog the other week and I sure do like what I read! What a blessing! I have linked your RSS to my blog. ~ Ruth, from Pennsylvania
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie I found one, I love that font, thanks for telling me how to find it. Have a great day! Hugs
