Samaritan's Purse OCC...It's Not Too Late!

Next week is Collection Week for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child! The ladies and girls from our church will be meeting Monday night and filling boxes for this very worthy project. We have fun with it every year!

This year, we also showed the following video to our church. A picture is definitely worth a thousand words! After the video was over, my husband said to the congregation, "If that video didn't touch your heart, you need to meet Jesus". How true! It seems we see so much sadness and injustice in the world anymore, but we can't let that harden our hearts to the suffering going on around us.

As Americans, we have so much, and it's amazing to see how so little can make these children so happy! They will not only get toys and hygiene items, they will also get the message of the Gospel, and that is the most important thing!

If you're interested in filling a shoe box, please go to the website listed above to get more information about what to do and where to drop off your box.

I hope you're all having a wonderful week.

Take care,
~Melanie

    Blessings~

BTW, I LOVE YOUR MUSIC! Kari Jobe's MY BELOVED is my absolute FAVORITE song! There is no other song that can bring me to the fee of Jesus as this one does! WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE!!

  2. Hi Melanie,
Our church participates in this every year too! I just dropped off two boxes today. It's fun to buy the things for the boxes and pray for the children who will be receiving them...and for Operation Christmas Child. Thank you for sharing about it! :)

  6. What a wonderful ministry! I hope you're all over that cold bug that hit your house. We have one going around here too. My hubby took his first sick day today, and he started working for the company in 1991! Of course it's such a large company, I don't think anyone knows he's never taken a sick day before.
    Have a great weekend!
    Blessings,
    Marcia

  8. It's wonderful, Melanie. I appreciate the understanding that Franklin Graham has in focusing on why (they gospel) they share gifts with those in need. Without the shoe box gift the kids would have a sad day. Without the gospel they will have a sad eternity.

  9. Hi Melanie, I am relatively new to blogging just a year or two. I have joined your site. Earlier I was here and was going to send you a note but my computer went nuts and I had to turn it off. I was going to say I love your blog. And not just for the reasons that would be obvious if you went to my blog. But I can't say that now. If you go there you will see why. :) Your template and graphics are great. And to comment on your post, I think it is a great thing. My blog url is: http://www.throughthewoods2.blogspot.com Be great if you stopped by. Also anyone else who reads this is welcome. Take care, Janet

  10. Hi Melanie!

I am getting my boxes ready right now too! I shop year round for things to put in my shoe boxes! This year I have bought so much stuff that it just won't all fit in those boxes! I will save the rest for next years boxes. This year I found some great quality shirts for a dollar! I bought marbles last year after Christmas at Michaels for fifty cents. I bought all they had left of those! I won't send anything that I wouldn't want my kids to play with either. I always include a few post cards from West Virginia in my boxes. I try to put in one of the animals and one of the flowers. Also don't forget to put in an envelope with your address on it. I got a letter from one of my boxes from last year!

    Hugs,
    Angela
