Hi, everyone. I hope you're all doing well and having a great week.
We spent last week visiting with family and just relaxing! It was really nice.
Mom and Dad's blackberry and blueberry bushes are in full swing, so we had some good berries! We also enjoyed some of their fresh tomatoes and squash.
We visited with some of the neighbors too, and Mom wasn't very happy to find out that a mama bear and three cubs have been spotted in the neighborhood!
We spent one evening by the fireplace in the woods just talking and watching the fire. It's very soothing to my soul to hear the wind blowing through the leaves and listen to the fire crackle.
It may not be some folks' idea of a great break, but it sure is mine!♥
We went to our family reunion while we were on vacation too. This is the shelter we rented. It's so pretty there. We were blessed with a beautiful day!
I just love this picture!
I was so glad that Tanya was able to be there. If you remember, she is my cousin's wife that's been fighting cancer since December. She looks very different now,and when I first saw her, I just wanted to go somewhere and cry. I'd not seen her since our family reunion last year. She's lost her hair and was using a walker since she had part of both feet amputated because of blood clots. She has a very stubborn type of cancer that is not responding very well to treatment, and it's spreading. The latest news we have is that she is going to be treated with a special chemo that Duke hospital is going to make for her and send to her local hospital. She's been told that it's not a cure, but is supposed to give her more time. She'll be 37 in a couple of weeks. She has a wonderful husband and three great kids. It's definitely been a burden on the heart of our family. I know there are young people who pass away every day from cancer, but I'm still going to keep praying for her, and ask that you would too! I know they would appreciate it.
So, are you going to Chick-fil-A today? We are!
Enjoy the rest of your week, and thanks for stopping by. :)
Take care,
~Melanie
I am so glad you were able to find time to get away and spend time with your family. I will definitely add Tanya to my prayer list. Praying for the Lord's Will for her and her family.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I will definitely keep Tanya in my prayers. I hate hearing stories like this one. It's so sad. I'm hoping she responds to the new chemo. Enjoyed your pictures. Sounds like you had a great time enjoying your family.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a good time and sorry to hear about your cousin. I am like your mom I wouldn't want to hear about bears. Yes I will be supporting Chick-fil-A but not today. We don't have one close by.
ReplyDeleteMelanie when I saw the title of your post it made me want to read it. I will pray for Tonya. Praying the new chemo does help. God can work miracles today, just as He did 2 thousand years ago. I know bloggers are prayers. They helped pray for my Granddaughter who was battling beast cancer. Looks like a wonderful vacation you had. Please keep us posted. I am now a follower
ReplyDeleteBeen to Chick Fil A and it was packed and all the ones we passed were crowded - YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay I have still been praying but I will continue - I am so sorry and it is not fair at all!
Glad you had a great reunion though - looks like fun.

Beautiful pictures Melanie! So glad that you got to spend some time with your family. I'm at Canaan Valley right now on vacation and couldn't make it to get a chicken sandwich. I would have if I were back home. I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin and her cancer. I do know that Duke is a top notch place. One of my friends from growing up had breast cancer really bad. They did some experimental stuff with her 10 years ago and she is still alive and well. I pray the same happens with your cousin.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Angela
Sounds like a nice break to me. I am sorry to hear about your cousin. I will remember her in prayer.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, glad you enjoyed your vacation. Prayers for Tanya continue.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie...such a sweet and peaceful time spent with your family! It sounds like a perfect time away! I too, will continue to pray for Tanya...so nice that you were able to spend time with her. If we had a Chick-fil-A near us...we would have been there to support them. Weekend blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteThat is my kind of vacation too, Melanie! So happy you got to enjoy it. I'm so sorry to hear about Tanya still having such a rough time. Praying for her!
ReplyDeletethank you for your comment. I am glad you are a new friend.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Mel, to learn of your cousin's bout with cancer. I do pray that Jesus will extend his healing hand to her and restore her life. God is bigger than cancer. I met Gary Morgan while I was in the Oncology group for chjemo and he has a web-site by that name. "Godisbiggerthancancer.com" I'm praying for you and your family.
