Busy and Bye to Andy

Remember the "busy, busy, busy" magician in Frosty the Snowman? Well, that's how I've felt lately. Preparing for a new school year is a lot of work! It's hard to believe our summer break is about halfway over already.
I've been busy sending out the supply lists and calendars, meeting with prospective students, returning phone calls and e-mails, and ordering all the books and supplies we'll need.
We're switching the whole school over to PACES, so I've had to rearrange filing cabinets to make everything fit in my very small office!
We also ordered ten new rolling chairs, so we'll have to get all those put together before school starts.

I was sad to see that Andy Griffith had passed away. The Andy Griffith Show is one of my favorites, and one of the very few things I even watch on TV. I never get tired of those re-runs! One of my favorite episodes is the one where Opie's friend teaches him how to throw a tantrum to get what he wants. Andy doesn't fall for it though, and even the little boy's dad catches on at the end and takes his son out to the 'good old-fashioned wood shed'.
Oh, wouldn't it be nice to have a good show like that today? It seems that most of the folks on TV nowadays need to put on some more clothes, keep the clothes on, and have their mouths washed out with soap!

I hope you all have a great week!

Take care,
~Melanie

  1. Oh, yes, I agree, Melanie--I like how you said "most of the folks on TV need some more clothes, keep the clothes on, and have their mouths washed out with soap!" You are so right! :) I wish there were more shows out there like Andy Griffith.

It does sound like you have been busy! Hope everything settles down for you soon. Have a wonderful week!

  2. First--It was great to hear from you...Second--I love your roses on your blog..

You are having a busy summer. and to think that some people think that those of us in education have nothing to do all summer. :)

I totally agree. I grew up watching Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Opie, Howard, Floyd, Goober and the rest of them. We still watch the reruns. Even after when he moved onto Matlock, I enjoyed watching him. He always showed his values on each show.

    Take care!
God Bless as you prepare for the new school year!

  3. We love Andy Griffith here too! That episode is so funny- I love when Opie tries it and his Pa asks him what he is doing. He answers by saying "I'm throwing a temper tantrum". Then he asks him to get up and he quickly obeys- LOL!!!

  4. We used a lot of ACE when I was homschooled for high school. I also taught 3 years of K and 1st grade using ACE at a private Christian school many moons ago!

  7. I'm sure it is a continual cycle of work for you, Melanie, getting ready for the school year, etc. Hard to imagine your summer is halfway over; time is flying by! I do agree about the Andy Griffith Show; would be nice to have more shows like that and less shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians (which I have to admit I do watch while at the gym if it is on :)

  10. Hi Melanie,
It sounds like you are one busy lady! My daughter and her husband are both teachers, so they are already starting to get ready for the new school year.

The Andy Griffith Show was a great show, and I sometimes catch it on tv. I was also saddened by Andy Griffith's passing. I enjoyed him in Matlock too.

Enjoy the rest of your summer! :)

  12. It's so sad, isn't it! You're right! People need to come to know Jesus so they'll clean up. I am glad the storm did not hit your home. Blessings, Susan

  14. A lot of people passing away from my moms generation. Today another one. I agree with you about the TV these days. I miss the fun clean shows of the past and I miss the comedy ones as well. I was really into Little House on the Prairie. I hope you get your school all fixed up and ready. I am sure it will all fall into place with some work. Have a great day. big hugs
